How to use the online timer

Enter the hours, minutes and seconds and tap Start, or choose one of the presets, which start right away.

The bar shows how much time has passed. You can pause, resume, add +1 min or reset at any time. The time left also appears in the tab title.

When time is up, the alarm rings and the screen flashes until you tap Stop. If notifications are on, you also get a system alert.

The 25-minute preset is one cycle of the Pomodoro technique: 25 minutes of focus followed by a short 5-minute break.

Frequently asked questions

Does the timer work with the tab in the background?

Yes. The end is calculated from the finish time, and a separate process (Web Worker) checks it without being paused by the browser. The tab must stay open and the device unlocked.

What happens when time is up?

Your chosen sound plays and the screen flashes until you tap Stop. If you allowed notifications, the system shows an alert.

What is the Pomodoro technique?

A focus method: 25 minutes of uninterrupted work followed by a 5-minute break. After four cycles, take a longer break of 15 to 30 minutes.

Can I close the page?

The time keeps counting and is saved in your browser: when you come back, you’ll see how much is left. But the alarm only rings with the page open.
